Serving our community for over 75 years, since 1949!
A Pack is a unit of the Cub Scout program
Cub Scouts are a division of Scouting America
(formerly BSA: Boy Scouts of America)
Our Pack is sponsored by Oaks Presbyterian Church
Members include approximately 100 girls & boys in grades K-5, primarily from:
Stevens Elementary
Oak Forest Elementary
Sinclair Elementary
The Scouting program focuses on teaching Scouts to appreciate nature, develop strong morals & values, and to become good leaders and citizens of their communities.
1 or 2 interactive Den meetings per month, where Scouts participate in Adventures that deliver the Cub Scout Program
1 meeting or activity per month for the entire Pack
2 camping trips each year (optional, fall & spring)
Pinewood Derby, Raingutter Regatta, hiking, fishing, etc.
Fundraisers for the pack, and community service projects
Find more details on our activities page.
Pack 648 is run by parent volunteers and organized into Dens based on grade level.
During regular Den meetings, Scouts work on completing a series of Adventures to earn their Rank.
Missed meeting content can be completed outside of the Den along with the help of an Adult Partner (parent/guardian).
A monthly meeting or activity for the entire Pack reinforces that we belong to something more than our smaller groups and presents opportunities for recognizing achievements.
Be an Adult Partner to your Cub Scout and attend their activities. We also need parents to volunteer or contribute to running the Pack.
Scouting involves yearly dues to the Pack as well as the local Area Council and National Organization. Pack 648 combines these fees and our own dues into one single payment, which includes:
Rank promotion and Adventure awards
Race kits & trophies
Activity insurance
Not included (at additional cost):
Campouts & summer activities
Individual uniforms, guide books, & accessories
