Cub Scouts provides fun activities and opportunities for the entire family. Most family activities can accommodate younger siblings, too.
Refer to the Pack Event Calendar for the most up-to-date schedule available online.
Camping is a seminal experience of Scouting. Pack 648 typically organizes at least two overnight camping trips each year for the entire Pack, one each in the fall and spring. Siblings of participating Cub Scouts are welcome at designated Family events. Family campouts double as that month's Pack Meeting, so please attend them if you are able!
Activities at each event will vary, but nature hikes are always on the menu. Some locations may offer programs including:
Fishing and/or canoeing
Supervised target ranges (archery and/or air BB rifles)
Arts & crafts
Ga-ga ball and other sports
Typically, Dens will be assigned the responsibility to feed the Pack for one meal. The Pack brings food ingredients, cooking fuel, and equipment for the camp kitchen area. We require payment of a nominal per-attendee contribution (varies) to cover these costs and the campsite reservations.
Families must bring their own tents, sleeping bags, mess kits, and other camping gear. You must pay any per-person or per-vehicle entrance fees (common at state parks) not included with the campsite reservation. Please make plans for your own dinner prior to arriving the first evening; don't forget to pack snacks and lots of water!
Webelos and Arrow of Light dens may embark on additional camping trips (e.g. Trail-to-Troop) without the full Pack, depending on availability and interest. (These events are not open to siblings or younger Scouts.)

These age-inclusive, family-friendly competitions are often a highlight of the year. Scouts practice their skills planning, assembling, modifying, and decorating their miniature vehicles in hopes of being the fastest -- or if not, at least looking awesome. Parents should always supervise, and family can lend a hand when using tools or paint, but the Scouts should do most of the work (as appropriate for their age)!
In Pack 648, one official kit of raw materials for each race is included with every Scout's annual registration dues. Additional kits for parent or sibling entries, when permitted, can be purchased from the Scout Shop. Equipment, tools, accessories, and painting supplies must be acquired separately.
